When a regulator opens an inquiry

An information request, a warning letter or a notice of intended sanction rarely arrives without context: it usually follows a player complaint, an audit finding, a media report or a compliance failure the regulator has already documented. How the operator responds in the first days shapes everything that follows. A rushed or incomplete answer becomes the basis of the case; a considered response can close the matter before it becomes a formal proceeding.

We take over the file at the first contact, establish the facts internally, prepare the response and manage the communication with the regulator so the operator speaks with one voice.

Licence suspensions, sanctions and appeals

Sanctions in the gaming sector range from fines and conditions on the licence to suspension and revocation. Most regimes provide an internal review, an administrative appeal and, ultimately, a court route. We represent operators and suppliers at each stage, including licensing and classification disputes and appeals against decisions of the Polish Minister of Finance, the Malta Gaming Authority and the Curaçao Gaming Authority.

Domain blocking, payment blocking and player disputes

In Poland, the Ministry of Finance keeps a register of prohibited gambling domains and can order payment blocking against unlicensed sites. Being listed is a commercial emergency and often the first sign of a wider enforcement interest. We challenge listings, advise on lawful market access and represent operators in the administrative proceedings that follow. We also handle player and commercial disputes, ADR procedures and internal investigations that need to be run before the regulator asks.

FAQ

Questions we hear most

What should we do first when a regulator contacts us?+

Do not answer on the spot. Record the request, preserve the relevant data, involve counsel and agree a single point of contact for the regulator. We can take over the file the same day.

Can a licence suspension be appealed?+

Yes. Most gaming regimes provide for internal review and administrative or court appeals against suspensions, revocations and fines, with strict deadlines. We assess the decision and lodge the appeal within the time limit.

Our domain was added to the Polish register of prohibited domains. What now?+

Listing follows an administrative procedure and can be challenged. We analyse the basis of the listing, advise on lawful access to the Polish market and represent you in the proceedings.
